“We need to talk” already ended it

Their face drops before there is a topic. Name Saturday and a time instead.

12 September 2026

You say “we need to talk.” Their face changes before you have a topic. The conversation you wanted has already been replaced by a threat with no contents.

Attach the subject and a time. “Ten minutes on Saturday pickup after dishes.” That is a container. The bare phrase is a court date. People do not get generous inside a court date.

If you do not know the topic yet, you are not ready. Wanting them nervous while you figure it out is not a plan. Figure out the ask, then open.

If they say it to you, ask “about what, and when?” Do not spend the afternoon writing a defense of unnamed charges. You can refuse a blank summons and still show up for Saturday pickup.

What if they say it to me?

Ask “about what, and when?” Do not spend the afternoon rehearsing a crime you have not been charged with.
